TOURIZM ("we," "our," or "us") is a tour management app for guides and group travelers. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes, and how it is used. By using TOURIZM you agree to the terms below.

Summary

TOURIZM does not require an account or login. Most data you create (passenger names, notes, documents, and photos saved for personal reference) stays on your device. However, two features do transmit limited data: the AI landmark feature sends photos to OpenAI for analysis, and the live location-sharing feature sends GPS coordinates between guides and tourists through our backend server while sharing is active.

Information We Collect or Process

• Photos (AI landmark analysis): When you use the Snap-to-History feature, the photo you take is sent to OpenAI for landmark recognition and historical context. OpenAI processes the image and returns a description. Photos are not linked to your identity. OpenAI's handling of this data is governed by their privacy policy at openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
• Photos (general use): Photos you take or save for rosters, notes, and documents are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted.
• Location: When you enable live location sharing, your GPS coordinates are transmitted to our backend server so guides and tourists in the same group can see each other on a map. Coordinates are associated with a Tourist or Guide ID for the duration of the session.
• Tourist/Guide ID: The app generates a unique ID on your device for group coordination. While location sharing is active, this ID is sent to our backend in memory only. It is not stored in a database and is cleared when the server restarts or the session ends.
• Location search queries: When you search for a place name, the search text is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to look up the location.
• Notes, rosters, documents, and itineraries: All saved locally on your device. Not transmitted.

How We Use This Information

• To provide AI-powered landmark recognition through the Snap-to-History feature
• To enable live location sharing between guides and tourists in the same group
• To allow place-name search on the map
• To let you store rosters, photos, notes, and trip information on your device

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, analytics tracking, or any purpose unrelated to the features above. We do not sell or rent your data.

Third-Party Services

• OpenAI: Receives photos submitted through the Snap-to-History feature for landmark analysis. See openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
• OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): Receives place-name search queries. See osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy.
• TOURIZM backend: Receives GPS coordinates and session IDs only while location sharing is active. Data is held in memory and is not persisted to a database.

Data Retention

Photos sent to OpenAI are processed and not retained by us. Location data on our backend is held in memory only while a sharing session is active and is cleared when the session ends or the server restarts. Local data on your device persists until you delete it within the app or uninstall TOURIZM.

Your Choices and Control

• You can stop sharing your location at any time within the app, which immediately stops transmission to our backend.
• You can choose not to use the Snap-to-History feature, in which case no photo is sent to OpenAI.
• You can delete locally stored data at any time by removing it within the app or by uninstalling TOURIZM.

Security

Data transmitted to OpenAI, OpenStreetMap, and our backend is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Locally stored data depends on the security of your device. We recommend keeping your device passcode-protected and your operating system up to date. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

TOURIZM is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated effective date. Continued use of TOURIZM after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

3. AI Content Disclaimer

TOURIZM uses AI to provide historical insights. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors. This content is for informational purposes only.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TOURIZM shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the App.
